Windows Phone Most Secure Smartphone OS

According to hacker and security expert of 15 years, Steve Lord. When asked to rate the three most popular OSes in the market by security, he called Windows Phone the 'toughest nut to crack':

All have benefits and drawbacks. Currently Windows Phone seems to be the hardest nut to crack. Blackberry has a long history of being very security-focused. If I have physical access to the device, I find Android’s usually the easiest target. Then comes iPhone, then older versions of BlackBerry. If it’s over a network or I have to attack via email or message, Android’s usually the softest target.

While Windows 10 Mobile is, of course, considered by Microsoft to be its safest product yet, Lord also had nothing but praise for older versions of Microsoft's mobile OS:

Older smartphones tend be considered less secure as they’re usually affected by known weaknesses. If you’re using an older phone you’re better off with a classic dumb phone. If you have to have an older smartphone, use an older BB10-based Blackberry, or a Windows Phone running Windows Phone 8 or newer.

This must all be considered in the context of Windows Phone's meager marketshare, of course. Windows users have often made the argument that Apple's wares are more secure due to their limited financial appeal to hackers: why try to exploit OS X when you can spend the same amount of time on Windows and have 7-8 times larger an audience for your exploit?

Similarly, given Windows Phone's scanty marketshare of just 3%, it is also quite likely that Microsoft enjoys added security due to the lack of known exploits - and hackers' lack of enthusiasm in finding more.

When all is said and done, though, Windows Phone does seem to prove a formidable challenge for anyone wishing to tamper with your device and, given Microsoft's current misfortune in the mobile play, it certainly needs all the good news it can get.

Der Aufbau vom elementary OS Desktop

elementary OS Freya Desktop 

Ein kurzer Artikel zum Aufbau von elementary OS (Linux), in diesem Fall elementary OS Freya.

Der untere Teil vom Desktop ist die Dock. Hier könnt Ihr Programme aufrufen aber in erster Linie Programme minimieren und maximieren. Öffnet Ihr zum Beispiel Firefox, dann müsst Ihr hier auf die Dock klicken, um Firefox zu minimieren. 

Zur Auswahl stehen euch immer nur oben links "schließen" und oben rechts "maximieren". Zieht Ihr die Maus zur Dock, dann erscheint diese und klickt Ihr auf das Programme-Symbol (wenn es bereits geöffnet ist), dann wird das Programm (Fenster) minimiert. 

Anwendungen/Programme könnt Ihr oben links auf dem Desktop aufrufen. Hier habt Ihr noch einmal die Wahl zwischen zwei Ansichten (links von Werk aus - rechts wäre nach Kategorie). Ein Suchfeld findet Ihr hier auch. 

Oben rechts sind die Indikatoren und in der Mitte sehen wir die Uhrzeit und das Datum:

Den Kalender könnt Ihr hier auch aufrufen (auf das Datum klicken). 

Rot = Panel / gelb = Dock

Der Dateimanager kann über die Anwendungen geöffnet werden. Hier funktioniert dann auch weiterhin "Rechtsklick" aber auf dem Desktop leider nicht. 

Es wird kaum jemand Probleme haben, da es wirklich super einfach ist - es geht hier viel mehr um "die Anfänger der Anfänger" und sollte in einer Anleitung stehen "im Panel sollte es anzeigt werden" oder "Rechtsklick auf die Dock um die Einstellungen aufzurufen", dann sollte jedem klar sein, was gemeint ist. 

In Zukunft wird es noch mehr zu elementary OS geben, nur befindet sich "Freya" noch in der Betaphase, deshalb warte ich lieber n

Anleitungen für elementary OS kommen | Ankündigung

Gute Nachrichten für euch und schlechte für mich. Die Nachfrage nach elementary OS steigt und steigt. Auch wenn Ihr die Anleitungen von Linux Mint 17 und Ubuntu 14.04 verwenden könnt, wollen trotzdem viele Anleitungen für elementary OS sehen. Warum?
Viele Anwender sind von elementary OS überzeugt aber die wenigsten wissen, dass das Verwenden der Linux Mint oder Ubuntu Anleitungen auch für elementary möglich ist. Wer sich elementary OS installiert und bei Google nach einer Lösung nach seinem Problem sucht, der findet sehr selten Lösungen/Anleitungen und wenn was gefunden wird, dann ist es meist nicht mal Deutsch. Damit sich das ändert, wird ab dem nächsten Release elementary OS hier im Blog aufgenommen, damit auch Anfänger möglichst schnell eine Lösung für Ihr Problem finden. Das wird mir keinen Spaß machen aber durch die Nachfrage habe ich eigentlich keine Wahl.

Noch ein kleiner Hinweis: Es wird elementary OS ISIS nicht geben, da ISIS momentan stark in den Medien vertreten ist und das nicht positiv. Aus diesem Grund wird das neue Release von elementary OS den Namen Freya tragen, was mehr als verständlich ist. Weitere Informationen dazu gibt es auf der Homepage von elementary OS (externen Link).

Steam installieren | Linux Mint 17

Steam ist die erste Adresse für Spiele unter Linux (oft auch unter Windows) und hier will ich euch zeigen, wie Ihr Steam installieren könnt (nicht SteamOS). Auf der Homepage könnt Ihr euch die .deb-Datei von Steam herunterladen. Diese dann per Doppelklick ausführen:

Klickt hier dann auf Install Packages -> bestätigt das mit eurem Passwort und wartet kurz, bis die Installation abgeschlossen wurde.

 Startmenü -> Spiele -> Steam

Alle nötigen Dateien werden heruntergeladen -> Icon wird auf dem Desktop abgelegt

Ihr müsst nur warten, bis am Ende der Steam-Client zu sehen ist:

Jetzt könnt Ihr euch anmelden bzw. einen Account erstellen und schon könnt Ihr spielen. Nicht vergessen, die Grafikkartentreiber zu installieren (siehe hier).

Solltet Ihr Steam unter Windows genutzt haben, dann werden euch auch Windows Spiele angezeigt, deshalb oben STEAMOS + LINUX wählen, um alle verfügbaren Spiele für Linux zu sehen.

Der Big Picture Modus funktioniert auch ohne Probleme.
Noch ein kleiner Hinweis, für die, die Steam Linux unterstützen möchten. Macht es nicht wie ich und kauft die Spiele direkt über euren Linux-Rechner. Alles weitere wird auf der Homepage von Steam erklärt.
