Tor Browser starten | Linux Mint 17

Rechtsklick -> Hier entpacken -> kurz warten -> Ordner "tor-browser_de" erscheint

Opera 15 arrives with 'Stash' feature which lets you save web pages for reading leisurely

Opera 15 arrives with 'Stash' feature which lets you save web pages for reading leisurely

Opera has released the newest version of its browser for Windows and Mac called Opera 15.  The new version is a Chromium based one and uses the same engine as Google did, the Blink.

The new browser gives its a feel of Chromium and This shift makes Opera look and behave a lot like the Chromium browser will be puzzled for a moment as to whether you are Opera or Google's Chrome.  The address bar can be used as a search box similar to Chrome’s omnibox.  The Google search box in the older Opera have been removed as the address bar serves that purpose.

Opera has refreshed the Speed Dial page which now lets you organise shortcuts to web pages in folders and filter your shortcuts by folder.  This is particularly useful if you have lots of shortcuts.

Opera has imported the "Discover" tab from the companies Android browser version to the PC and Mac.  If you use Opera App for Android you will know the "Discover" tab which shows content from a variety of sources based on your location and some categories such as news, food and entertainment. You can add or remove  or customise the categories from a list as per your choice.

Opera also has a all new "Stash" feature that lets you stick complete websites to a tab by clicking a heart icon in the address bar.  Now this a real positive thing from the Opera guys.  Many a times we visit some pages which are not relevant to our search at that point of time but may be useful later.  With this feature you can “stash” previews of multiple web pages for later reference and then view all your stashed pages together at your own convenience. The Stash tab lets you zoom in and out of the previews, but you can’t rearrange them and clicking on a preview will lead you to the page.

Though the company has said this is a stable version, but expect many updates to follow this version.  You can check out Opera 15 by downloading it here.

'Yandex.Browser' the newest browser in town with a bottom URL navigation bar for Android devices and iPad

'Yandex.Browser' the newest browser in town with a bottom URL navigation bar for Android and iPad

The Russian search engine giant Yandex today unveiled a new Browser for Android devices.  Called the Yandex.Browser, the browser has a distinct URL navigation at the bottom.

There is also a customizable visual shortcut manager called Tablo on board which list the sites you visit often.  It also has a Opera like data compression engine to reduce your bandwidth consumption.  Rest all the features are a browser specific which are available in almost all the browsers available today.

But what I really liked about the Yandex.Browser was the design of bottom navigation for URL.  This is really helpful if you have large screen devices like tablets or S IV

So if you like experimenting with browsers here is one for your.  Download Yandex.Browser from Google Play for Android devices now and enjoy it for a while.

And as far as iPad users are concerned the Yandex.Search has now become Yandex.Browser so if you also want a piece of Yandex cake you can download the Yandex.Browser from Apple Store.  The bottom navigation feature is not yet available for iPad and Yandex.Browser is not yet released for iOS devices as a whole

Got Mobile and a PC, play Skee Ball within the browser on your mobile for free with the new Google Experiment 'Roll It'

Got Mobile and a PC, play Skee Ball within the browser on your mobile for free with the new Google Experiment 'Roll It'

Google's new experiment called Roll It gives you chance to play a arcade game called Skee.    And the requirements are rather simple and free.  All you need is a smartphone and a PC with Chrome browser installed and you are on! The games allows you to pit yourself against two other players.  The aim of Skee is to roll the  ball into an inclined lane in order to make them fall into holes that have points. The holes further away have the most points while the ones closer and easier to target have fewer points.

Try this new game by heading out to Roll It on your PC and generating a code.  After you get the code, start Chrome on your mobiles and head over to g.co/rollit.  Pair your friends phone and tilt the phone to choose number of players you want to play against. Done that, now to play you need to aim from your phone and then swing it in order to aim. The game guarantees a few fun hours on a boring day indoors with a couple of friends.

Unlike most other Chrome Experiment games, you can play this game solo also.  This is the second game in succession to Racer that Google has released after its Google I/O.

Do post in your comments.

Google Maps get biking friendly, adds directions for Cyclists in Europe

Google Maps get biking friendly, adds directions for Cyclists in Europe

Google is on a warp speed mode as far as updates are concerned, Just today it launched a service to give directions to Cyclists in Europe.  Though not all European countries are not covered as of yet, but bikers in  number of European countries covered by its Google Maps service, including Germany, France, Poland, Ireland, Luxembourg and Liechtenstein will get this service at no extra cost or update.

As per the The Next Web, the Google Maps will  give cyclists popular bike trails, official cycle lanes and recommended roads directly on the map in a Browser.  And since all the data is provided by cycling experts like General Bicycle Club in Germany and other cyclists in Europe, you will be provided with accurate road maps with up to date information.

If you already have Google Maps with you, the process of planning a route remains exactly the same like you do for driving, walking etc.  You simply have to open  Google Maps from the browser, put in the start and the end points and press/click 'Get Directions' Google will then display a recommended route, with a clear indicator of where the cyclist needs to go and a number of step-by-step directions in the sidebar.

Kai Hansen, Product Manager at Google, said the service should offer a route that avoids busy streets and leverages suitable bike paths wherever possible.
“Time estimates for the route will be based on a complex set of variables accounting for the type of road, terrain and turns over the course of my ride,  I also am able to turn by turn Navigation for my bike. I just plug earphones into my phone, switch over to Navigation and let Google Maps guide me through the city – just as from the car.”

The only problem is that the Google as not provided a App for it as of now but Google has said that a App was already on the cards.

Google Chrome 27 released, Google fast pacing its updates at one a day, gives voice search service to users

Google Chrome 27 released, Google fast pacing its updates at one a day, gives voice search service to users

Close on the heels of Opera's full fledged launch of its browser, today, Google has released Chrome v27.  Google has said that this is a stable release of Chrome 27 after a brief beta testing period.

The new Chrome loads 5 percent faster then the previous version.  Also with the new release comes, a bunch of goodies.  The new API allows users to sync and save content to Google Drive.  Google has also rehashed ranking of predictions, spell correction and Omnibox predictions.

In all the Chrome 27 has fixed 14 bugs which had been identified by Google and beta testers from around the world, who were suitably rewarded by Google.  Another big boost for the Chrome 27 is the new Adobe Flash build in.  This would please the harried users who had been stuck with the security issues of old Flash version.

The best of all is the interactive 'Conversation' feature in the new Chrome.  It lets the users ask any thing and you will get a spoken reply.  For example if you ask what is the temperature in Mumbai?  It will reply with the temperature at given time.  You can then follow up the conversation with a question like will it rain in Mumbai? and get a reply from Chrome.  If your question deals with a bigger issue with many search results,  the Chrome reply is coupled with information cards supported by Google's Knowledge Graph.

To activate it download the Chrome 27 browser or by going here, go to the settings page and click on the Help line entry option.  You will be prompted to restart the browser and you are done.  Once you restart the Chrome 27, head straight over to www.google.com and hit the microphone icon in the search box.  It will ask you necessary permissions to use your voice and now start asking.

Quite sensation update this from Google, coming close on the heels of launch of Opera's browser.  This will start the new browser wars of 2013.  Keep asking and get spoken results.  Plus this article if you like it and comment on the new update from Google.

Another thing  which I forgot to mention was the Easter Eggs in the new Chrome,  spot one and be an instant hero on the world wide web.

Opera for Android : Remember the Opera, well it has launched a full fledged version of its Webkit Browser

Opera for Android : Remember the Opera, well it has launched a full fledged version of its Webkit Browser
While the world tech community is going gungho about Chrome and Firefox browsers, the Opera today 4 hours ago quietly launched the full fledged version of the Opera’s top-to-bottom redesign of the browser for Android.

IF you remember it had launched this beta version codenamed Ice with its Webkit based browser.  Now it has exited the beta stage to become a full fledged App on Google Play.  The changes Opera has brought into this new offering are a light-coloured interface and redesigned the navigation bar, speed dial and favourites screens.

The full version of the browser brings toggles to switch the navigation bar from top to bottom or vice versa. The navigation bar serves as a place to type in URLs or search keywords. Additionally, active tabs can now be taken to full screen mode easily. As per the company Opera can now wrap text better than any other browser in the market when users zoom in on those hard-to-read areas. The text rendering engine works without users having to scroll sideways every time they zoom in.

Though Opera has retained WebKit/Chromium 24 engine but soon Opera may move to a new engine Blink.  And Opera has promised an update as soon as Blink is available.

Other features of the newly launched browser include a content discovery feature that can be accessed by swiping right from the home screen. The Discover feature makes the browser a social and news feed as well.
“Pick your interests from categories such as Arts, News, Technology and more, and get back to discovering the internet all over again. It's all automatic, already installed in your Opera browser for Android.”
And you can rely on the famed Opera data compression for faster loading and relatively lower bills while roaming.  Download the App from Google Play now.

Post in your comments on this brand new browser from Opera, though beta users may have used it for some time now.

Play Google's Racer using 5 phones using iOS and Android with Chrome

Play Google's Racer using 5 phones using iOS and Android with Chrome

This is one experiment which all mobile phone users should love.  Google had just launched a new experimental game with Chrome. Called the Racer, it uses the Google Chrome so no matter if you are using Android or iOS you can play this racing game involving multiple devices.

Google displayed this game yesterday at Google I/O in order to showcase the Chrome's ability sync the Android and iOS devices together.  And sure it did!  The aim of the game is to control the tiny cars on the track created on separate phones which become one when brought together.  The above pic shows three phone interconnecting the tracks but you can connect up to five devices together to run Racer.

And to play this game you just need Chrome Browser installed on all the phones or tablets.  If you are interested to check out the new Google experiment go g.co/racer with your mobile devices and follow the instructions to set the game up.

You only need to control these cars when they appear on your device’s screen. Touch the screen to accelerate and release the brake. You will require a bit of practice before can get hold of the controls.  This in fact is a decent experiment where one can just start   the game within a browser and play with his or her friends.

Chrome users will also like its earlier arcade style game called the Super Sync Sports.  The browser based games are a future which up to now has not been fully exploited.  So go play this one!  Google Play is already giving unlimited songs to its US users and with the Google Play Games hub coming soon, we have plenty to look forward to this summer!

Meanwhile you can visit here to find out all the latest games for all kinds of phones!
