Reboot to (EDL) From Fastboot. On this article guide we will show you how to Reboot to Emergency Download (EDL) From Fastboot. This mode is support for most of Qualcomm-based Android. We need to enter Emergency Download Mode or EDL on Android device to Unlock bootloader, unbrick device, and modify protected device parameters. 

If ADB installed on your computer, you can connect android device using USB cable to the computer and access Emergency Download Mode or EDL with this commands; (the USB Debugging option in the Developer options on your Android device menu must be enabled)

But, there are some problem when we use ADB command to access EDL on many bricked Android device, the device can not be booted with full ADB support while FastBoot mode is accessible. And, when your bootloader is locked, there are not other choice to flash a partition or boot an image on your Android device. 

Although there are most of firmwares support rebooting to Emergency Download Mode or EDL in Android module, but the fastboot utility doesn't recognize the command above, then the fastboot will refuse to sent command to the Android device.

Guide Reboot to EDL Mode.

  1. You must download Fastboot_edl.7zip here

  3. Once your download ready, now extract zip file in your computer desktop.
  4. Then, open extracted folder,, and run reboot.bat by double click this file.

  5. Now, reboot your Android device to Fastboot Mode, you can do it by pressing ;
    • Press and hold Volume Down + Power button while connect your device to the computer via USB cable.
  6. Once your device is connected to the computer, now press enter. if this step is successfully done, you will see this picture shown on your computer screen.

  7. Now your Android device will reboot to Emergency download mode | EDL.
  8. Now, you can flash your Fastboot Rom with Mi Flash Tool to Unbrick your device.

Guide to Flash Bootloop Redmi 2.

  1. You must download all requirement file from link above (MiFlashTool and ROM)
  2. Extract ad install MiFlashtool.
  3. Then extract Xiaomi Redmi 2 fastboot ROM at the specific folder, it's recommended extract this file at drive D.
    • for example extract this file on D:/Xiaomi/ ROM. 
  4. Now, run MiFlash tool.
  5. Then click on Browse button -> select Advanced.

  6. Now, following this option for the advanced windows.

      • flash_all_except_storage.bat = for complete new system
    • NvBoot Script --->> Leave blank

  7. Now, Turn on your Xiaomi Redmi 2.in Fastboot mode. How to do that ?
    • press and hold power button + volume down button.
  8. Then connect your Xiaomi Redmi 2 to the computer using USB cable. the computer will automatically install driver for this device
  9. Once installation is complete. Click refresh on MiFlash Tool window. You should get a device.

  10. Then, Click Flash button. Your Xiaomi Redmi 2 device will get flashed with the new Fastboot ROM.

  11. If you had removed the battery, connect it back. 
  12. Then turn on your Xiaomi Redmi 2. 
  13. Finish.

Flash Trouble Shooting.

  1. If you have any problem with driver installation. you can try this.
    • Try to disabled driver signature detection while booting windows on your computer by pressing F8 key on keyboard.
  2. If you find any error on MiFlash tool, such as reached end of fie, receive Hello packets, give the pc a reboot, try this solutions.
    • Try to flash the Xiaomi Redmi 2 on different PC or computer.
  3. When you got this problem, driver fails during installation or you can not see any device on Miflash. the solutions are,
    • Try to check device manager for any driver not installed properly and install it manually and browse the driver from :
      • /programfile/xiaomi/miflash/qualcomm/
