Sony's new phone called Xperia SP will support and hook up with Sony's DualShock 3 controller to let you play games using real controls instead of on-screen controls. This will be the first time a phone officially will support a controller. And connecting the DualShock 3 controller is easy, you have to simply pair the phone and controller using Bluetooth and after that you just press the PlayStation button on the controller.
It may seem funny that the Sony flagship Xperia Z doesn't have this capability but Sony has promised that it will be available soon in Xperia Z also. Once that happens you can get the controller hookup in almost all Sony phone.
Users have been using controllers with Android using hacked drivers to play games running on SNES and NES emulators so having a official release will be very nice.
To tell you more about the Xperia SP. It was unveiled by Sony during the MWC and will have a 4.6-inch 720p display. It will be powered by a 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, with a Adreno 320 GPU for graphics graphics. It will have internal storage of 8GB with slot for microSD for expansion. Sony has retained the LED notification strip that was first seen on the Xperia U. The strip sits below the display and matches the approximate colours of the album art of the song playing on the phone and will also pulse with the music. Additionally, users can customise the colour of the LED notification light to correlate to their contacts.
Xperia SP will be available in black, red or white which will make it look similar to the Xperia Z. It will also have a 8MP rear camera with Sony's Exymor RS sensor which will give you 1080p video output and have a VGA camera in front for your video calling needs.
