MacのIntel Turbo BoostをOFFにしたらバッテリー持ちや発熱は改善されるのか

Intel Turbo Boostは、ピーク負荷時にプロセッサーやグラフィックスのパフォーマンスを一時的に加速させる機能で、最新のIntel Macにも勿論搭載されています。

実はこの機能をオフにすることでMacのバッテリー持ちが改善することがMarco Arment氏のブログで紹介されています。　


ということで早速私もIntel Turbo Boostをオフにしてくれるソフトを導入してみました。

このソフトは英語ですが、Intel Turbo Boostのオン・オフを切り替えるだけのものなので簡単に利用できます。


Frequencyに注目していただくとわかりますが大量のソフトウェアを同時起動してもIntel Turbo Boost（黒い規定クロック線を超えての動作）が行われないようになっています。

またCPU温度も導入前は80度近くまで上がることも多かったのですが、導入後は60度前後をキープしているのでなかなかいい感じです。気温の高くなるこれからの時期には嬉しいですね。

電池持ちに関してはもう少し様子をみる必要がありそうです。

Google Play Store 5.6.8で本格的にペアレンタルコントロール機能が搭載

Google Play Store 5.6.8から本格的に保護者向けにペアレンタルコントロール機能が導入されたようです。


ユーザーコントロール内に新たに加わったペアレンタルコントロールによって保護者の方はよりお子さんに安心してスマートフォンやタブレットを利用していただけるようになります。


これがペアレンタルコントロールの設定画面です。


実際にオンにしてみるとアプリとゲームに対する年齢制限と映画に対する年齢制限をかけることが出来ます。


制限は3歳以上、7歳、12歳、16歳、18歳とそこそこ細かく選ぶことが出来ます。

今までのダウンロード制限はわかりにくい部分もあったので今回のアップデートは保護者の方にとっては嬉しいものではないでしょうか？


保護者向けのヘルプも用意されているのでこの機能を利用するのであれば一度目を通しておくといいかもしれません。
